Hiri (god)

Hiri is the god of oceans, travel and preservation. He is depicted as a tall man with light blue skin, long beard and golden eyes. Hiri is not as popular as Ruk, as the Nerons only worships him.
Hiri is also called the god of navigation, and is often depicted holding a conch shell. Sailors would blow into the conch shell to get Hiri's attention, and pray for a safe voyage. The conch shell is still used today as a symbol of safety and good luck. Sailors will often blow into a conch shell to signal for help, or to ward off danger. The conch shell is also used as a musical instrument. It is played by blowing into the opening of the shell, and the sound can be quite beautiful.

It is said that Jamu created the Nerons from the blood of Hiri. So the Nerons adds a surname 'Hirinak', which means 'servant of Hiri', to honor him. The largest temple in Amara is dedicated to Hiri, built by the Nerons.

In some ancient scripts, Hiri is often seen with Ruk, as it is said that they are brothers born from the same father.

Hiri rides Gerut, a fabled bird. His main weapon is a mace.
